CENTER FOR AMERICAN RIGHTS FILES BAR COMPLAINT AGAINST HUNTER BIDEN FOR DISHONESTY AND FRAUD
The Center for American Rights (CAR) filed a complaint with the Connecticut Attorney Grievance Committee urging disciplinary action against Hunter Biden over his criminal convictions and guilty plea on multiple counts of dishonesty, fraud, and tax evasion.
“The American people rejected the Biden-Harris Administration’s two-tiered justice system and deserve accountability for Hunter Biden's crimes. Even a pardon from his father cannot excuse him from professional discipline as an attorney and officer of the court," said Daniel Suhr, president of the Center.
“A full investigation and disciplinary action are necessary to protect clients and the integrity of the profession. In any other instance, an attorney convicted of crimes like these would face professional discipline—the son of the president should be no different.”
Biden, a 1996 graduate of Yale Law School, is licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia and Connecticut. The District of Columbia’s highest court has already temporarily suspended Biden’s license and ordered a full disciplinary investigation. Biden’s license in Connecticut is already temporarily suspended for several years of delinquent fee payments.
Even if President Biden issues a pardon for his son, the complaint emphasizes that this does not absolve Mr. Biden of accountability before the bar, as a presidential pardon can only excuse federal crimes. Even after President Ford pardoned President Nixon for his role in the Watergate scandal, Nixon’s law license was still revoked by a New York court.
The Hunter Biden complaint outlines violations under the Connecticut Rules of Professional Conduct, specifically Rule 8.4, which prohibits attorneys from committing criminal acts reflecting adversely on their honesty and trustworthiness or engaging in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation
Hunter Biden's legal issues include:
A guilty plea on September 5, 2024, to nine federal charges, including felony tax offenses and fraudulent business deductions in United States v. Biden, No. 2:23-cr-00599.
A jury conviction on June 11, 2024, for three federal counts related to false statements and illegal firearm possession in United States v. Biden, No. 23-cr-00061-MN.
The Center for American Rights most recently filed FCC complaints against CBS and NBC respectively to hold biased broadcasters accountable and to restore trust in the media.
